Finding a Web Host
There are many web hosts you can use to host a website. I personally use 1&1 Internet
and I love it. It is very affordable and easy to use. Feel free to look around and see if there is a different host you want to use. You can search for “website hosting” and find a whole bunch of different sites and look at prices and features. 1&1 Internet
is one of the best though and I have had good experiences using them.
If you decide to go with 1&1, here are the steps for buying your website:
Go to 1&1 Internet
Click on DOMAINS
Type in the domain name you would like to register, along with the extension (.com, .net, etc) Make sure you double check your spelling here! Then click CHECK
It will then tell you if your desired domain name is available or not. If it isn’t, you’ll have to think of something else or choose a different extension.
Once you have selected your domain name by checking the check box next to it, click CONTINUE
Select the package you wish you get. The 1&1 Starter Package includes the necessary hosting and is generally sufficient for most websites.
You might get a couple pages asking if you want to add on extras, such as extra domain names, 1&1 E-Shop, or Antivirus. If you find you would like to add any on, go ahead and select them, and if not click NO THANKS, CONTINUE ORDER
Then it will go to your cart and show a summary of your order. Double check the website name again, just in case, then click CONTINUE
It will then go through the typical online ordering forms and ask for payment. You will create a password for your account as well. Make sure you write this down, as I will need that information to be able to log in and create your website.
